Me, Daan Nelemans, bought in 1998 twenty-two acres of pure jungle to start the Congo Bongo project. I had a low budget, so to raise money I sold parts from the property to start constructions, property draining, water wells, electricity and roads and walkways. The first construction was my own house. And after that I started to construct the jungle houses of Congo Bongo.

During the building of Congo Bongo, people from the area came to take a look at the houses. They liked the houses so much that they asked me if I could build also houses for them.

I got a lot of experience to build in this climate and what kind of materials to be used. But most important is which laws you need to know to start building. So over the last years I build more than 15 houses, all with very positive and happy owners.
